Tuesday, October 22, 2024
We are proud to announce that we have released TMS WEB Core v2.6 for Delphi. TMS WEB Core offers Object Pascal RAD component based web client development with ultra easy deployment of JavaScript, HTML, CSS and image files to any web server.
Main new feature 1: WYSIWYG form designer
A main new feature in TMS WEB Core v2.6 is the visual form designer. Whereas in previous TMS WEB Core versions, the IDE form designer was reusing the default Delphi VCL form designer, now in v2.6, you can optionally choose to enable the web form designer. This means that we have embedded a browser (Microsoft EdgeView) in the Delphi IDE via which you can do WYSIWYG design of your web applicaiton pages. You can not only see the web page layout rendered with all CSS you wish to involve, but also see at design-time responsive behavior and live data. More information about the many challenges to embed a browser into the Delphi IDE can be found in this blog article.
There are also several videos that show you how the web form designer works and the advantages it brings.

Using AI to create web pages
Main new feature 2: first-class StellarDS.io support integration
StellarDS.io is our service to work with central data in the cloud from TMS WEB Core but also native applications. It offers the fastest and easiest path to use data in the back-end. With the new TMS WEB Core releases, we have a Pascal class wrapping the StellarDS.io REST API, but even far more easy and efficient is to use the client dataset for StellarDS.io that you can bind right-away to DB-aware controls and have databound applications up & running in minutes! Not convinced, see for yourself in this video how we accomplish a full-stack app in under 10 minutes:

Other improvements
These are not the only new features in TMS WEB Core v2.6! During the past months, numerous enhancements were done to all areas of the product.
- Promise based methods for various async operations, foremost in the dataset and HTTP request related components. It becomes easier now to write logically sequential code with operations that have underlying asynchronous responses
- AI assistance for web page creation: generate HTML for your pages with help of the ChatGPT API from the TMS WEB Core toolbar in the Delphi IDE
- WebP image file format support added: Now support for WebP images was added. You can add this new image type to your TMS WEB Core project and it will be deployed.
- TWebRatingPanel orientation: You can now choose between a vertical or horizontal oriented rating
- Min & Max date in TWebDateTimePicker: New settings allow you to set the minimum and maximum date to select from
- Support for Bootstrap 5.3.0: The latest version of the popular Bootstrap library can now be selected directly from the TMS WEB Core project
- Automatic Bootstrap style initialization when controls are dropped on the new web form designer
- First class integration of the StellarDS.io service to work with data in the cloud.
- Camera support added for Miletus apps running on Raspberry Pi
- Pager alignment added to TWebTableControl
- + numerous smaller new features, improvements and fixes.
Not using Delphi or wanting to develop from macOS or Linux?
TMS WEB Core also exists for Visual Studio Code and Visual Studio Code runs also directly on macOS or Linux besides Windows. The exact same TMS WEB Core framework is available with TMS WEB Core for Visual Studio Code! Continue to work on TMS WEB Core projects created in Delphi from Visual Studio Code or vice versa.
Get started!
The new TMS WEB Core v2.6 is a free update for all users with an active license to TMS WEB Core or TMS ALL-ACCESS.
If you have no license yet, find out how you can reuse your skills in building VCL Windows applications with Delphi to bring your existing and new applications to the web with the fully functional free trial version.
Note that with TMS ALL-ACCESS, you have hundreds of more controls you can use in your TMS WEB Core applications with the TMS FNC controls and you have also the power in your hands to create your own secured, flexible high performance REST API backend server with TMS BIZ!
